Being industrious but unoriginal, often borrowing texts and even musical phrases from previous pieces

Notable Compositions:
Five part fantasies for viols, Madrigals for three and five voices

Assignments:
Was a lay clerk at Ely Cathedral, as well as a singer in the choir, and later employed by Lichfield Cathedral as a choirmaster

Curious Facts:
Was unusually fortunate to have so much of his work published; his seven volumes show the changing musical tastes of the time
