Highgate School where he studied piano, organ and composition; the Royal Academy of Music where he studied piano with Solomon and composition with Lennox Berkeley

Notable Compositions:
The Whale (1968), a cantata based on the book of Jonah, The Lamb (a setting of the poem by William Blake), The Protecting Veil, The Veil of the Temple Village Wedding and Song for Athene, which was performed at the funeral of Princess Diana

Curious Facts:
direct decendent of John Taverner, famous renaissance composer
