little is known of his early life, but it is believed he might have been a child of the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace

If Ye Love Me, Spem in alium, Lamentations, Puer natus est nobis

Assignments:
organist of Dover Priory in his early years; later at Waltham Abbey and Canterbury Cathedral, and later to the Chapel Royal, where he composed for Henry VIII, Edward VI, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth I

Curious Facts:
was one of the first church musicians to set texts with English words, rather than Latin, due to the English Reformation that happened during his lifetime
