DMA from Cornell University; studied with Robert Palmer, Nadia Boulanger, Ernest Pepping and Gunther Schuller

Clouds, Amatzu Kaze, An Afternoon on the Perfume River, Shin-ju, The Tempest; movie credits include Prince of the City, The Morning After, Crossing Delancey, and John Turturro's Romance and Cigarettes

Assignments:
composer in residence with the San Francisco Ballet, Marlboro Music Festival, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Mancini Institute in Los Angeles; music supervisor at Buena Vista Pictures (Walt Disney Co.); currently professor of music at UCLA

Curious Facts:
has been commissioned by Boston Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the New Japan Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the New Juilliard Ensemble, and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra
